Life Is Too Short to Always Go The Fastest Route, Take The More Beautiful Route Instead

Life is here to enjoy it, but most of the time we are in a hurry to do something or go somewhere

I want to have my tasks and my goals have done fast. I prefer the faster route to my goals and to tasks done.

But when I’m traveling or going for a walk: I choose the beautiful route.

I’m not in a hurry. We shouldn’t be in a hurry.

Thinking about time and writing and talking about time makes me impatient, especially when I know that life has a limit.

But life is also there to enjoy it. I know that if I hurry I don’t enjoy life, the moment, and the small things. I’m missing the moment right now.

“Forever is composed of nows.”

— Emily Dickinson

Focus Back On The Present

I’m stuck in my head a lot. I think about the day ahead, I think about what tasks need to be done, and I think about everything that could happen. Are you doing the same?

You get stressed, you are not in the present moment and usually everything in our imagination and in our mind is worse than it actually will be in real life.

So stop overthinking. Stop going through all the possibilities.

Come back to the present moment:

  • What do you see?
  • What do you hear?
  • What do you smell?
  • What do you feel?
  • What does your environment look like?

To be in the present moment and to prevent your brain to go back into your head thinking, I read about one thing you can do in the book “Think like a monk” by Jay Shetty:

Do a little challenge on your way to work or school or wherever you are going. Find the most beautiful stone. Find an extraordinarily beautiful flower. Find something beautiful in the grey city. Find a child that is laughing.

You will see beautiful things, you will be in the present moment, and perceive your surroundings. There is so much to discover in this life, on this planet. If you are stuck in your head, or in your phone, you will miss the beautiful sides of our beautiful life.

“Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have.”

— Eckhart Tolle
