Compare Yourself Only To Yourself From Yesterday

Now this time of the year is coming again to be grateful for all the things you have.

Not just for material stuff.

But especially for the things that don’t cost anything.

Love.

Friendship.

A home.

Family.

Health.

Freedom.

We have so much to be grateful for but in the stress of everyday life and all the problems we forget those things really easily.

We have a to-do list for all the things we have to do for our jobs and our households. But there is no point on this list to stop for a moment and to be grateful for all those great things, people and moments we have in life.

Everyday we go to work, we look at ads and other people and we compare ourselves with them. Even though, there is nothing to compare with because every person is an individual. Everyone is beautiful. Everyone could be happy. Everyone is perfect just the way they are.

By comparing us with other people, we get lost in all the great things other people have and in all the flaws we think we have. Even though you think that this person looks better than you, it doesn’t mean that this person thinks the same way and she or he has their own problems to face. Beautiful people have their own problems with something else or with their beauty.

We all have different taste. Not everyone thinks this person is beautiful. That’s the same thing with food: not everyone likes pizza. If we would, we would only have pizza restaurants all over the place.

That would be boring, right? Eating pizza the whole time.

Every person is different. And that’s good. That’s what makes life interesting.

Don’t you think it’s interesting to meet new people and hear new opinions?

Don’t compare yourself with other people; compare yourself with who you were yesterday. – Jordan Peterson

Stop comparing yourself with other people. You are an individual and you are perfect just the way you are.

Sometimes this happens unconsciously. Realize it and think differently about it.

Compare less. Be more.

I’ve read that somewhere and it totally made sense.

Instead of comparing yourself you should be yourself more.

It’s you who I would like to know better and not a copy of that model on the poster.

I would like to meet a real person.

By being yourself more, you will get happier because you don’t try to be somebody else anymore.

Be more.

When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everybody will respect you. – Lao Tzu

If you want to read more about that topic, I suggest the following books which helped me and are still helping me to not compare myself again and to focus back on myself and my goals. We (everyone) is too hard on themselves. Take a step back, sit down and think about your good qualities and how much you already achieved.
