Accept The Things You Can’t Change

There are so many things in life we cannot change. But what we can change is how we look at those things and how they influence us and our life.

We all worry about too many things we can’t change. And we also don’t want to accept so many things we can’t change. By doing this we let those things influence our life and our well-being.

The Past and the Future

We can’t change the past anymore, but we still think about it so much, worry about it and don’t accept it.

We think about the “what if” questions so much that we get lost and lose the focus on the present.

I was and still am sometimes this kind of person who thinks through all the what-ifs of past events.

I could have done that…

I could have said that…

That would’ve been nicer…

I should have done that earlier…

Do those thoughts change anything? No. They are just wasting my present time.

The past is gone. I can’t change it anymore. I have to accept it. I have to forgive myself and the others for our past.

The same problem is the worrying about the future. We can’t change the future right now.

The future is not here yet.

We worry so much about things that could happen in the future. We are thinking through so many possibilities and what-ifs from the future, even though they are just in our heads and the possibility is high that it won’t even happen like that.

We worry about our future: money, health, kids, death, insurance,…

Insurance is only working because then we don’t have to worry about that thing happening in the future anymore, even though the possibility is high that it won’t even happen because that’s how the insurance companies make money.

All we have in our lives are the present moments. This day right now. Nothing else.

When I first realized this, I was in shock because that’s exactly right.

We will always only live in this moment right now.

And by realizing this you can change your future by living for this moment and nothing else.

Don’t worry about your future, you have a lot of time in your future to worry about it when it happens.

Right now, what you’re worrying about hasn’t happen yet. So stop worrying!

Other people’s decisions and lives

You can’t change other people and their decisions.

You can’t change their beliefs and thoughts.

When your boyfriend cheated on you, then you can’t change that anymore and you can’t change your boyfriend.

You have to accept this circumstance and live with it.

When you don’t accept it, it will control your life and you let your boyfriend and this circumstance control your life.

You don’t want that, right?

When a person believes in something else then you do, then accept that and stop arguing or worrying about it.

It’s his life and his decisions, so don’t let them influence your life.

It’s your life and you can choose what you want to do and you make your own decisions.

Don’t let it control you.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and then accept the circumstances and deal with them.

There will be things you haven’t planned for your life and you didn’t want for your life.

But those things happen and as soon as you accept them, you can get on with your life and make the best out of it.

You don’t let them influence you and your life.

There are so many things in life we can’t change and we haven’t planned for, but that’s how life works.

Accept it and make the best out of it.

If you don’t, it will break you and control your life.

Don’t let that happen.

Let your worries go.

Let your what-ifs go.

Live everyday because it’s the only time you will ever live in.
