3 Strategies to Boost Your Mindset for Lasting Positive Change

In this negative world of ours, positive things are hard to find if you don’t have your mind set on it

In our negative world, positive things and people are hard to find if you don’t have your mind set on them.

Training your brain to see more positivity is easier than you expect and can make your days happier.

Remember: You cannot change the negativity in the world, but you can change your view of it.
Accept the things you can’t change, and change the ones you can!

Benjamin P. Hardy talks a lot about the changes you must make to become the future self you want to be.
That means you have to let go of 80% of your current life because only 20% is beneficial.

The habits and decisions that made you who you are today are not the ones helping you get to your future self.

With these 3 strategies, you can re-program your mind to more positivity:

1. Surround Yourself With Positive People

Positive people are full of energy, which can inspire and uplift you. Their mindset is positive, and they always see the world from its best side.

Get infected by their positivity!

And as harsh as it may sound:
Let go of negative people.

It could be your best friend who sees the devil in everyone. You cannot change her, but you can let her affect you less by decreasing the time spent together.

Instead, you find up-lifting people, who believe in you, and help you improve and grow.

You have to make hard decisions to move on.

You cannot change the attitude of others.
But you can change the people you surround yourself with.

If you are stuck with the same people in the same environment, maybe think about moving away.
Find yourself a new location and new people!

“We are what we see. We are products of our surroundings.”
— Amber Valletta

2. Practice Positive Self-Talk

A big part of changing your mindset is replacing negative thoughts with positive ones.
This takes a daily commitment to practice positive self-talk.

When you are standing in front of the mirror in the morning, say a few positive affirmations to yourself.

Google some affirmations and choose some that speak to you personally.

Here are a few of mine as an example:

  • “You are strong.”
  • “Giving up is not an option.”
  • “I will be wealthy.”
  • “I trust the universe.”

Pose as superman and speak your affirmations confidently.

It may seem silly, but trust me, they help you re-program your consciousness. And nobody sees you anyway. This is just for you.

Another way to add more positivity to your daily life is to think about 3 things you are grateful for at night before going to bed.

You get bonus points for writing them down: because your brain remembers everything you write down better.

At the end of each day, we usually remember the bad things happening to us because we are analyzing and overthinking them.

But you can re-program your consciousness to think of the positive things in life for which you are grateful, and you will realize how blessed you are.

“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.”
— Eckhart Tolle

3. Engage in Activities That Bring You Joy

With our busy lives, we usually forget to do activities that bring us joy.
We have to be efficient and we always have a lot to do.

Stop for a minute every week to do something you enjoy!

Your choice! But not just watching TV for a few hours.

It could be:

  • Going to brunch with friends
  • Going for a hike
  • Doing a picnic
  • Going swimming
  • Going to a museum

There are so many great things you can do to boost your mood! As kids, we did whatever looked fun, but as a grown-up, we are stuck in our routines and forget to have fun too!

“By changing our mindset and habits, we can actually dramatically change the course of life, improve intelligence, productivity, improve the quality of our lives, and improve every single education and business outcome.”

— Shawn Achor

Conclusion

Daily habits of positivity will change your mindset fast.
Try it, and you will see!

The key is to work on it until it becomes a consistent habit.

Those small 5-minute habits you can add to your daily life will feel like nothing at the beginning, but if you do them for longer, you will experience your mindset shifting.

I kinda was a negative person (it’s part of our culture), but now doing these habits for 2 years, I see how I’m reacting differently to situations.

On the family trip this weekend, I was grateful for the activities we could do with my parents and my siblings.
Years ago, I would have been complaining that we were walking so much and that they wanted to go shopping in a sports shop.
