“BlacKkKlansman”: My Thoughts

Recently I watched the movie “BlacKkKlansman” (based on this book) and it made me realize how many prejudices and injustice is still happening in our world. I don’t know much about the racism in the USA because I’m not living there. I’m always speechless when I read and see about what happened to the African American people in the U.S.

This movie made me realize again that these terrible racist incidents are still happening.

Prejudices, generalization and racism are reasons why people are dying. Those are human made things and we could save those people.

Racism is the greatest cancer of my lifetime. – Charles Barkley

We are all humans

We are all humans living on this earth together. We all have the same rights of living a peaceful life. Every child has the right to have a beautiful and happy childhood. We are all the same. We have the same problems, desires and feelings.

In Europe racism is going up again because a lot of refugees are coming from Syria, Afghanistan and the African countries. The Europeans are having a nice life, but they are afraid of losing their jobs and their security. They are afraid of change, even though they don’t even know what will happen in the future. They don’t know anyone who lost his job because of the refugees, but they are afraid of losing them, so they are against refugees and foreigners.

We all have the right to live in peace and if there is no peace and no future in their home country, they should be welcome in other countries. It’s not the fault of those refugees and their children that they have to leave their home country. Most of the times it’s our fault, the fault of the rich countries which want to get the raw materials available in those countries. Then war begins, the inhabitants get sick or have to work a lot for a really small salary. They are not safe anymore in their own home country, because of the greed from rich countries, the politicians and the companies there. Some people get rich because of that, and the others fear for their life and the life of their children.

After they exploited the country, the land is infertile and the inhabitants who lived off this land, need to move away. We can’t even imagine what’s happening then until they arrive in Europe. They put so much effort into living a better life, and then they receive the hate from all of the racist people, you are afraid of change.

Racism is taught in our society, it is not automatic. It is learned behavior toward persons with dissimilar physical characteristics. – Alex Haley

This is nothing new. This is happening all over the world. We’ve come a long way from slaving African American people, but we are definitely not finished yet. There are no equal rights yet. Neither for African American people nor for women.

The positive thing about this movie is, it shows that the African American people fought for their rights and they got them. They achieved that by not giving up and sticking together in good and bad times. They didn’t give up and they had a long way from being slaves to getting accepted as an U.S. inhabitant.

Some racist stuff shown in that movie seem so wrong and stupid, you just shake your head. And I can’t imagine that this happened only 50 years ago.

We are all humans. We are all living on this earth together. We are all the same. People have the right of free will and religion.

Racism springs from ignorance. – Mario Balotelli
